Wings Outreach Worldwide is a non profit dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty.  We believe this is most effectively done through education.  We fully embrace the concept of "teaching a man to fish" rather than giving handouts.

Empowerment Phase one started February 2012

Village Literacy Center - India

In February 2012 we built our lighthouse project, a literacy center to serve as a “pre school” for ages 3-5.  Through this facility, we will jump start the education process, provide nutrition and medical care, and establish outreach to the families in this poor fisherman’s village.

We were blessed with donations to build the school building along with a ongoing donations to provide the teacher salaries.  We still need donors to help continually support monthly costs of milk, fruit and eggs.  

​

Phase two we added a well at the school and in the village.  We also provided toilets as there were no toilets in the village at all.  We helped provide some concrete garbage containers and education on disposal management.  This was really important to avoid the burning of garbage near the huts.  Prior to this we had two devastating fires that nearly destroyed the entire village.

We had provided a playground for the children in 2012 but that has unfortunately rusted due to the strong salty air, and we are in need of replacing that soon.

​

Our next goal is to purchase a bus and build an English medium elementary school for the children as they graduate from our preschool.

We are people who continue to create new goals to provide a better future for this village we have adopted and to provide a model for other villages.  We call this model "Adopt a Village".   We do not believe in the type of charity that comes in without truly understanding the needs of the people.  We believe you need to develop relationships and truly learn what the needs are and take the time to educate people for true change.

In the US our founder and volunteers are completely unpaid.  We do not have any overhead or an operating office that wastes precious donations.  We do our best to ensure all the money gets directly to the people who need it.
